RRECC collecting supplies for ‘Vets and Veggies’ farm

Town administrator Margaret Nartowicz announced at Monday’s selectmen meeting that the Rutland Regional Emergency Communications Center is holding a drive to assist the Vets and Veggies Program in Athol with supplies for their new farm.

The vets will work at the farm and have housing, said Nartowicz.

Items to be collected are linens, sheets (twin and full), bath towels, hand towels, face cloths, dish towels, personal hygiene items, shampoo, razors, shaving cream, toothbrushes, toothpaste and soap.

Other supplies needed include First Aid items such as band-aids, latex exam gloves, gauze pads, and adhesive tape, and miscellaneous items such as work gloves and heavy duty hand cream. Drop off locations are the Rutland Public Safety Complex, Rutland Public Library, Oakham Police Department, Hubbardston Police Department, and the Henry Woods Memorial Building in Barre.

Donations may also be made directly to Vets and Veggies GoFundMe account. For more information on the farm, visit their website vetsandveggies.com. -PB
