Nomination papers for spring election available this month

A three-year seat on the board of selectmen and four three-year seats on the Wachusett Regional School District Committee are among positions up for grabs at this year’s annual town election.

Nomination papers will soon be available for candidates interesting in running for town office this spring.

Selectmen Erik Scheinfeldt’s term expires in May. He was elected to a seat on the board in a special election in September. Terms are also expiring for school committee members Scott Brown, Michael Dennis, Stacey Jackson, and Robert McCarthy.

Other town offices to be filled by election are a one-year term as moderator, two three-year seats as Trustees of Damon Memorial, and a five-year seat on the Holden Housing Authority. Registered voters have until 5 p.m. Thursday, March 16 to take out nomination papers. Papers will be available in the town clerk’s office Monday, Feb. 13.

CandidateS must collect at least 50 signatures of registered voters in order to have his/ her name appear on the May 8 town election ballot. The deadline to file the completed nomination papers with the Registrars of Voters is 5 p.m. Monday, March 20.
